Duality Video and Pulse of the Maggots - Posted By: SaintofKillers Slipknot will be shooting a video for the track "Duality" off their upcoming "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)" CD in Des Moines (or thereabouts) on Saturday, March 27. The group's label, Roadrunner Records, have put out an "open invite" for fans of the group to appear in the clip. "Should be a crazy time, and from the sounds of the video, if you show it will be like watching the band perform live in your house," reads a post on the Roadrunner web site.
The "Duality" video shoot will be helmed by the directing duo of Mark Klasfeld and Tony Petrossian. The first track released will be "Pulse of the Maggots", which will be made available for download on the group's web site on March 30. Other songs on the 13-cut Rick Rubin-produced CD include "Vermillion", "Circle" and "The Blister Exists". A B-side from the recording sessions, "Don't Get Close", plus some instrumental pieces, will appear in the Activision video game "MTX: Mototrax".

Audio Interviews - Posted By: SaintofKillers Holland's FaceCulture recently spoke to Slipknot bassist Paul Gray and percussionist Chris Fehn in the Jolly Carlton Hotel in Amsterdam for almost half an hour each. The first audio clips from their respective interviews can now be heard online at this location.
Official album title confirmed - Posted By: SaintofKillers Slipknot have set "Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses" as the title of their long-awaited follow-up to 2001's "Iowa", due on May 25 through Roadrunner Records. The first track released will be "Pulse of the Maggots", which will be made available for download on the group's web site on March 30.
"It's got the feel of Ministry crossed with Slayer," Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison told MTV.com. "It's heavier than fuck and it's really cool. Also, it's the first introduction to the shredder old-school guitar solos of Mick [Thompson] and Jim [Root]. Mick and Jim are two of the best guitar players I've ever heard, and I think it's cool that we never really showcased their talent at playing technical metal solos. But when you hear them play back-and-forth solos on that track, it's so insane that it kind of makes you laugh."
According to Jordison, Slipknot chose the name "Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses" because it emphasizes the album's underlying theme of bonding and unification."I don't necessarily look at it as a negative or evil title," Jordison told MTV.com. "I just think there are so many internal thoughts and so much intensity within the lyrics that there are a lot of different meanings that can be pulled out of it. A lot of feelings went into the making of this record, and after digesting the whole thing you can really see that we're dealing a lot with getting back together and learning how to be a band again."
The album's first "official" single, "Duality", is being described as "the most experimental" single the band have ever released. "It's got one of the heaviest grooves we ever came up with," Jordison told MTV.com. "It's a dark song, but the chorus is very liberal as far as tones and things that we've never done before, and the things we've done with [singer] Corey [Taylor]'s voice are really wild."

Pulse of the Knot - Posted By: SaintofKillers A brand-new Slipknot song, entitled "Pulse of the Maggots", will be made available for download at the group's official web site beginning on March 30. This date will also mark the release of an interactive section on the web site, made whole by nine individual parts that are going to be unveiled one by one during the next few months, five before the official album release and the remaining four after May 25. The fans will be granted access to new and original stuff by Slipknot, starting with skins, images of the studio recording of the album, and pictures from the shows on the Jägermeister Music Tour tour with Fear Factory and Chimaira.
Later on, two new songs will be added to the web site: the final version of "Don't Get Close" and "Duality". By the time the record hits the shops, the web site will contain material that can only be accessed though the original CD. Fans who purchase the new CD will be able to enter exclusive areas and will be able to listen to a song NOT included on the album. They will also be given the opportunity to win various prizes, including nine signed jumpsuits used by Slipknot at their live shows. In addition, owners of the new CD will be able to access nine chat rooms (one for each member of the band) where the group will communicate with the fans.

Don't Get Close - Not on new album - Posted By: SaintofKillers Activision's MTX: Motocross game hit shelves this past Tuesday, so can we assume that many of you have already heard the new Slipknot track that's included on the game? Sure we can...Good. For those that still haven't checked it out, do so where you can, as "Don't Get Close" will NOT be appearing on the upcoming album in any form, so the demo version on the game is gonna be the only place to hear it. Seems that Slipknot and producer Rick Rubin have a little problem in that there's too much great shit to choose from, and only so much material they can fit on the new CD. Oh well. Keep checking in here and at Slipknot1.com for info about when we WILL be letting you hear some of the insane shit that is on the upcoming, as-yet-untitled full length, due in stores May.

Corey ashamed of his "travelling circus"? - Posted By: Physicist An interview with Belgian metal magazine "Aardschok" has raised speculation, denial and anger amongst the Slipknot fanbase. In the interview, Mr.Taylor speaks of the nontet in a negative and regretful tone, as well as bluntly criticising fellow band mate Shawn Crahan. Taylor allegedly referred to Slipknot as "the biggest baddest joke ever told" and said that it "isn't the band it deserves to sell three million records"
Some fans are passing the article of as false and written for the purpose of creating tension. The heading for the piece reads "SLIPKNOT = SHIT, STONE SOUR = HONESTY"

New Years At The Slipknot Camp - Posted By: SaintofKillers Stone Sour and Murderdolls rang in 2003 together, topping the bill of local Des Moines bands in nearby Clive, Iowa. Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root are bandmates of Murderdolls's Joey Jordison in Slipknot, and for the New Year's Eve celebration the Slipknot family was almost intact.
Stone Sour plays the New Year's Eve show every year, and Taylor, on the phone from his home, was asked if the success of his band made this year's celebration different. "Well, we'd been playing, like, a lot of old stuff, and kind of mixing in some new stuff. So people who had been to the shows before, they knew the older material, but they weren't too familiar with the newer stuff. And on New Year's Eve, when we got up and did everything, everyone knew the words. It was huge. I mean, especially when I came out to do 'Bother.' I mean it could have been a Bon Jovi video, man. The lights went down, all these lighters lit up. I was like, 'Whoa, what's going on here, man?!' It was really cool. I was really happy with it."
Taylor was asked if any of the Slipknot guys who weren't playing the gig showed up for the Stone Sour/Murderdolls headlined event. "Oh yeah, (bassist) Paul (Gray) was there, (percussionist) Chris (Fehn) was there, (guitarist) Mick (Thompson) showed up, and came to the party later. Yeah man, it was like a little get-together. It was really cool. I was glad to see them and they were having a good time, so yeah, it worked out great."
Taylor is currently working on songs with the Slipknot guys, gearing up for a Stone Sour tour, and playing daddy all at the same time.

Corey Is A Busy Man - Posted By: SaintofKillers Just because he's currently at home in Des Moines, Iowa doesn't mean that Stone Sour/Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor can relax.
"I'm basically playing triple duty right now because I'm writing with Slipknot for possible material for the next album, I'm gearing up for a European-Japanese-Australian tour that starts in February with Stone Sour, and I'm changing diapers on my son, you know?" Taylor said. "So it's a busy, busy, busy day in the Taylor household."

Good For 4 More Years - Posted By: SaintofKillers The January 2003 issue of Rock Sound has an interview with Slipknot's Shawn Crahan. Here's an excerpt from the article:
Rock Sound: Can you see Slipknot making ten albums?
Clown: Absolutely not! There is no way in hell that we will make ten albums. This is the way I look at it -- we signed a deal for a certain amount of albums and I would like to see it through and finish it the right way. I think we all do. We have produced two albums in four years and we aren't even half way to where we need to go yet, so you are looking at a minimum of four more years. Let's hope it's eight to ten years. Take a little time, Take a little nappy nap and keep the Clown in the basement in the bedroom, and let's see what happens.

Corey Responds To Gwar - Posted By: SaintofKillers Corey Taylor of Stone Sour offered another rebuttal (this time a more decent one) to the comments Dave Brockie of Gwar made five days ago:
For your information, I LOVE GWAR. I don't know how old you are, but I've been into Gwar since I was 16 years old. I was not talking shit on Gwar, I was pointing out the fact that they have not been prominent in the music scene for a long time. Sure, they tour, but when's the last time you heard about one of their albums being released? You know why? Because for the most part, people stopped caring about their music and focused on the circus.
He also clarified once again that Slipknot is definitely not breaking up:
The smack of truth - you really don't get it, do you? Slipknot hasn't been on course for a year. You don't want the truth. You want something to stay the way YOU remember it. And if it deviates even in the slightest, you will turn on us. The band is not breaking up.
